General Description

ArchiCalc is a dimensional calculator designed for architects, builders and hobbyists. It is designed to be simple and natural to use. It understands working with dimensional information in the form of lengths, areas and volumes. ArchiCalc can accept input and display output  in feet, inches, fractional inches, yards, meters, centimeters and millimeters. Features of ArchiCalc include:

• Instant conversions between units (feet-inch fractional inches, decimal feet,  fractional inches, decimal inches, meters, centimeters and millimeters with a single tap.

• Add lengths in different units without first converting to a common format (add feet to meters etc.)

• Square and cubic dimensional input and output.

• Extremely tolerant input: ArchiCalc can correctly interpret input like: 1/3m or 1'-23.5".

• On screen adjustment of rounding for both decimals and fractions.

• Ten general storage registers for saving and recalling dimensions.

• "Backspace" key that can be used to undo functions.

• [ ' ] ,[ " ] and [ / ] keys for the natural input of English Units.

• An on screen clock.

• Geometric Utilities for calculating the Hypotenuse of right triangles, areas of circles, volumes etc.

• "Key Swap" feature for making the functions you use most readily available.

• "key Help" for information on using all keys.

• Built in tutorial with "show me" dynamic instructions for basics

What's New in V3.0

• Comprehensive key help is now available on all keys. Press the [?] key help will be provided on the next key pressed. This is particularly useful for the cryptic geometric keys.
• Error help. If ArchiCalc can't interpret user input the [ ? ] key changes to [ ! ] key. Pressing this key will give information on the reason for the error.
• "Swap Key" option from the option menu allows the user to arrange the keys on the keypad. Move functions such as square root and square from the ALT screen of functions to the main screen.
• "Reset Keys" option from the options menu restores "Swapped keys" to their original positions
• "Set as Default Calculator" option in the Options Menu allows you to make ArchiCalc your default palm calculator from within ArchiCalc.
• "Clear Storage" option in the Options Menu allows the user to clear the ten general purpose storage registers. 

There were two known bugs in the previous version (2.0) of ArchiCalc. Both of these were related to "running calculations" (such as 3.0 x 6.0 x 6.0 x 12 ....) and have been corrected with this release:

• The "Back Space" key no longer terminates the running calculation.
• When a number was started with a decimal point in a running calculation the decimal point was ignored. The decimal point now behaves correctly.

What's Included in this package

This package includes ArchiCalcV3.prc, and this readme.html

In addition a copy of  MathLib.prc, a free library of mathematical functions, has been included for your convenience.

Both ArchiCalcV3.prc and MathLib.prc should be installed on your PalmOS device to enable the full features of ArchiCalc.

What is MathLib?

MathLib is a free shared library that can be used by any PalmOS 2.0+ program that requires  IEEE 754 double precision math functions. It's distributed under the terms of the GNU Library General Public License, and is freely available with full source code and documentation at the MathLib Information web page.

MathLib is not a part of ArchiCalc nor was it written by me. You have not purchase MathLib with your purchase of ArchiCalc. A copy has simply been included for your convenience.
