HOW TO INSTALL:
===============

IMPORTANT: Do not install ACI Manager(ACIServerSetup.exe) on multiple computers. You should install it on where you want to manage your users from. It's not necessary to install ACI Manager on the same computer as your database server, but you can. ACI does not logon to your database server in any way.

Installing ACI Manager:
-----------------------
- You need an administrator privilege in order to install ACI Manager on Windows NT4/2000/XP, if you don't, the setup program will show an error message and exits.
- Run Setup.exe or ACIServerSetup.exe depending on where you downloaded the software from.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.

Installing ACI Client:
-----------------------
Starting June 16, 2005, in all versions of Windows, ACI Client checks whether it was installed before, and exits the installation if it was installed previously. This is done for the convenience of network administrators who want to put the setup program in a logon script so it would be installed when the user logs in. The user will not see any dialogs or windows when the parameters shown below are used.

You need at least to be a member of the Power Users group to install ACI Client on Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003. However, a member of the local Administrators group is preferred. If the user is not a member of either group, it will exits without installing the software.

If there is a file that needs updating that is in use at the time of installation, setup will succeed if the user is an administrator, but will fail and rollback the installation if the user is a power user. But since ACI uses as few DLL's as possible, the installation will most likely succeed. In addition to that, these DLL's are dated prior to 2001, so updating DLL's are less likely to occur, and you don't have to be a member of the administrator group in order to install ACI Client.

Installing ACI Client Silently:
-------------------------------

To install ACI client silently, use the following command:

ACIClientSetup.exe /sp- /verysilent /suppressmsgboxes /norestart

When you use this method, no windows will be displayed to the user nor error messages. ACI does not require a restart normally, even if a restart is required, it can function without it. Setup will run ACI Client after it finishes the installation automatically. If you remove /norestart option above, the computer will restart if a restart is required without asking the user.
