Menu Commands

File Menu

- New - Select this
option to clear all fields and start a new project.
- Open - Select this
option to open a previously saved project of type AutoRun Maker Saved
File (AMSF).
- Save - Select this
option to save the current project as AutoRun Maker Saved File (AMSF).
- Make - Select this
option to start make 'autorun.inf' file in the Reference Directory
based on your specified settings. The progress of this process will be
shown in the Progress Bar below.
- Open
'autorun.inf' - Select this
option to open 'autorun.inf' file present (if any) in the Reference
Directory.
- Exit - Select this
option to quit AutoRun Maker.
Settings - This menu option will open a dialog
showing AutoRun Maker settings.

- Clicking OK
button will register the changes in the dialog. Clicking Cancel
button will not register any changes in this dialog. This condition is
only for the check boxes present in the AutoRun Maker Settings
group. Registry changes will take affect on clicking the buttons in Registry
Settings (Requires Administrative Privileges) group irrespective of
whether you later click on OK or Cancel button.
AutoRun Maker Settings
- Save AutoRun Maker Settings - If checked,
AutoRun Maker will save the changes that you make in this dialog (except
registry changes) to the directory in which AutoRun Maker is present.
- For this, the
directory containing AutoRun Maker should be writable.
- If you uncheck
this box and click OK, all saved settings will be lost.
- Show file copying related and open
'autorun.inf' message(s) (not applicable for errors) - If checked,
AutoRun Maker will not show you any message dialog regarding file copying
and opening 'autorun.inf' file after generating the same.
- Default options
will be used when this box is checked.
- These default
options are : for an icon or icon containing file whose icon is chosen for
the removable media which is present outside the Reference Directory
will be copied to the same even if a file with same name is already
present in the Reference Directory. It will be over-written without
any confirmation. For a file present outside the Reference Directory
and chosen for AutoRun, then it will NOT be copied to the same. Its
original path will be used in 'autorun.inf'. Also the user will be shown
with the message for confirmation to open the generated 'autorun.inf'
file.
- For un checking
it, will make AutoRun Maker to ask you for various confirmation dialogs
- Always overwrite existing
'autorun.inf' file - If this option
is checked the user will not be asked for confirmation to overwrite the
existing 'autorun.inf' (if any) or not.
- Otherwise, the
user have to confirm the overwriting by clicking YES in the
confirmation message dialog.
- Open
'autorun.inf' automatically on completion - If checked, the
generated 'autorun.inf' file will be opened automatically after the making
process is completed.
- If unchecked, it
will not be opened automatically. Rather a message may be shown for
confirmation to open the same depending on other settings.
- To disable the
message for confirmation to open the generated 'autorun.inf' file, you can
either check the Open 'autorun.inf' automatically on completion or
uncheck the how file copying related and open 'autorun.inf' message(s)
(not applicable for errors).
Registry
Settings (Requires Administrative Privileges) - These settings requires administrative
privileges. Otherwise these settings will appear inactive.
- AutoRun Maker
File Association (AMSF) - This setting
associates or disassociates AutoRun Maker Saved File (AMSF) with AutoRun
Maker.
- Click Associate
button to associate AutoRun Maker Saved File (AMSF) file types with
AutoRun Maker so that they can be opened directly by double clicking on
them.
- Click Disassociate
button to disassociate AutoRun Maker Saved File (AMSF) file types with
AutoRun Maker so that this file type will no longer be registered in the
system and will not be opened by AutoRun Maker by double-clicking the
file.
- Directory Entry showing 'Make
AutoRun Settings' - This setting
will create or delete 'Make AutoRun Settings' entry in the context menu of
all directories.
- Click Create
button to create 'Make AutoRun Settings' entry in the context menu of all
directories.
- Click Delete
button to delete 'Make AutoRun Settings' entry from the context menu of
all directories.
- AutoRun settings
for CD/DVD drives - This setting
will enable/disable the system's AutoRun feature for CD/DVD drives.
- Click Enable
button to enable the AutoRun feature of the system.
- Click Disable
button to disable the AutoRun feature of the system.
- Note that
AutoRun feature depends on many other factors in the registry than the
above setting can control. For details, click here.
Help Menu

- Help - This will open
the help file.
- If local help
file is not present, it will ask the user for confirmation to open the
online help by launching the default browser.
- Make a Donation - Click here if you want to make a donation to the author for AutoRun
Maker.
- About - This will open
the About dialog box.

Form commands
Reference Directory

- Specify the path
of a removable media like CD/DVD drive or a USB storage device. It can
also be a directory in the file system whose contents will later be burnt to
a CD/DVD disc or copied to a USB storage device.
- For specifying
the path either type or paste the complete path or select the same by
clicking the SELECT
button.
- Reset the field using
Clear
button.
- The specified
directory should NOT be a READ-ONLY directory.
Icon

- The icon you
specify here will be used as the icon for the removable media.
- Click the SELECT
button
to choose the icon.
- The icon can be
anywhere in the file system. If it is not present in the Reference
Directory or one of its sub-directories, it will be copied to the same.
- As long as the
icon is selected either from an ICON file (ICO) or some file like EXECUTABLE
or DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARY which is present in the Reference Directory or one
of its sub-directories, there is no problem. But if the file is outside,
it will be copied to the Reference Directory irrespective of whether it is
a ICO, EXE or DLL file. Although this method works correctly, an extracted
icon (ICO) file should be preferred. Icon extraction feature is currently
not implemented in AutoRun Maker. Many freeware ICON EXTRACTOR programs
are available for this purpose.
- Remove the icon
from the project by clicking the Clear
button.
- Icon selection
is optional. If you don't select an icon, the normal default icon for the
drive will be used.
Labels

- Label - Specify the text
that will be used as the label for the drive shown in My Computer &
Explorer.
- For specifying
the label either type or paste the complete argument text or string.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- AutoPlay
Label - Specify the text
that will be used as the label in the AutoPlay dialog window shown when the
CD/DVD disc is inserted in the drive or USB storage device is connected to
its port.
- For specifying
the AutoPlay label either type or paste the complete argument text
or string.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- AutoPlay feature
should be enabled for the AutoPlay dialog to appear.
- Specifying label
is optional. If you don't specify an icon, the drive label will be used.
- Specifying
AutoPlay is necessary if you want to select a File to AutoRun.
Otherwise it is optional & not necessary.
File to AutoRun

- File
Path - The path of the
file to run or open when the user selects the AutoPlay Label in the
AutoPlay dialog. For CD/DVD drives, it will also be ran or opened when the
user double-clicks the drive icon in My Computer or Explorer.
- For specifying
the path either type or paste the complete path or select the same by
clicking the SELECT
button.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- The selected
file can either be an EXECUTABLE (EXE) file or some DOCUMENT (TXT, DOC
,HTML etc.).
- Parameters - The text string
that will be passed to the auto-running EXECUTABLE (EXE) as command-line
arguments.
- For specifying
the parameters either type or paste the complete argument text or string.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- Parameters are
enabled only for EXECUTABLE (EXE) files.
- You should
correctly specify the parameters with necessary spaces etc. While
specifying one or more path as parameter(s), you should be careful of
in-between space characters.
- AutoRun file
path should not contains spaces. The user should be careful about that as
AutoRun Maker will not check or warn the user about it.
Shell Commands

- Command - The command
specified here will be added to the context menu of the removable drive
and executed when the user select it by its label.
- For specifying
the path either type or paste the complete path or select the same by
clicking the SELECT
button.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- Parameters or
arguments, if required, should be added manually and correctly as AutoRun
Maker will not modify the command specified here in any way.
- Its
Label - The label to
show for the corresponding command in the context menu of the removable
drive.
- For specifying
the parameters either type or paste the complete argument text or string.
- Reset the field
using Clear
button.
- Make
Default - If checked,
before clicking the Add button, it will make the command and its
label as default.
- By default, it
means that this entry in the context menu of the drive will become default
and thus gets executed when the user double-clicks the drive icon in My Computer
or Explorer (FOR USB STORAGE DEVICES ONLY).
- Command List,
Label List - These lists
shows the added Command(s) and their corresponding Label(s).
- Their order will
be maintained in the context menu of the drive as well except for the default
command which will be always at the top of the menu.
- To change the
order, use the Move Up
and
Move Down
buttons.
Move Up
button
will move the selected item up by one position whereas Move Down
button
will move the selected item down by one position.
- To delete a
single item from the lists, use the Delete
button.
- Add - Click this
button to add the specified Command & Its Label with Make
Default status to the list boxes.
- Set
Default - Click this
button to set the currently selected item in the lists as default changing
the previous default selection (if any).
- Clear
All - This button will
remove all the items from the list.
- Default Label - This label
shows whether the currently selected item in the list is default or not.
- Default label will be
visible only when the selected item is default. Otherwise, it will not be
shown.
Other Commands

- Make - Click this
button to start make 'autorun.inf' file in the Reference Directory
based on your specified settings.
- The progress of
this process will be shown in the Progress Bar below.
- Reset - This button
resets all the fields in the form.
- Help - Opens the help
file.
- If local help is
not present, it will ask the user for confirmation to open the online help
(REQUIRES INTERNET ACCESS).
- Exit - Quits AutoRun
