Getmac32 v.2.1 (32 bit stand alone version)

Files:

getmac32.exe - 26KB - command line executable
mac.exe - 32 KB - shell
macdoc.txt - 2 KB - this file

This simple program performs the same function as the command line 'getmac' does in XP Pro and above. It was not originally included with XP home. This version should run on previous versions of windows as well back to 95 at least. Though as of this writing I have not tested it, it's possible it runs fine in versions of DOS back to 6.22

I was amazed that when I needed this utility for a program I was writing, there was none available in the language I needed. Though some were close and wanted $10 or so for the program. The amazing part is, there seemed to be others who were looking for this too and no one else took the time to write the code.

Getmac32 Use: Just drop the getmac32.exe and mac.exe program together in any directory that's easy for you to find. Then drop to command line go to the directory and type "getmac32".

If you drop these files in a directory that's already included in the current path, there is no need to run from the directory it is installed in. If you have trouble launching, make sure the path contains short file names only.

The program simply returns the MAC Address of the local network card. It does not return any other network information.

Switches:

/? brings up command line help menu

/l writes a secondary output of MAC address to mac.txt

Licensing: May be used freely for non commercial use (not for profit). May not be resold in whole or in part.
