bnotes is a small, easy to use text and photo editor designed to quickly take and beam notes. This program is especially useful for school. It is even possible to transfer your photos and text to the desktop, which is explained below. The program is shareware and you have 30 days to try it out with full functionality. tranfering photos and text to the desktop

When you save drawings or text you can transfer them to your desktop and convert them using the bnotes conversion utility available from my website. First you must save the bnotes data files to the computer. In order do this, sync your palm handheld. After that open the conversion utility and click ‘set palm database name’ and browse to the pdb file named bnotesbmp.pdb for drawings or bnotestxt.pdb for text. These database files contain the transferred information from your palm handheld. They are located in the palm backup directory, usually C:\palm\[username]\backup\. Set the conversion direction from palm to text, then click ‘convert it!’ You can then find your files here: C:\palm\[username]\backup\

To transfer your text and photos to the palm handhand you must have a transfer definition file (xdf). When converting from pdb to txt or bmp the conversion utility asks you if you want to create a transfer definition file, click 'yes'. Then when you want to convert your file just click 'select transfer def. file' and select the file. Check 'text to palm' and click 'convert it!' When conversion is complete browse to your palm backup directory, usually C:\palm\[username]\backup\ or wherever you saved the files and double click the palm pdb files to install them on your palm handheld.

fixing the little black box problem

When you open bnotestxt.txt, containing your converted text, you will notice that instead of text warping to the next line there will be small black boxes. To fix this all you have to do is cut and paste all of the text into a formatted word processor, such as Microsoft Word. But to convert back to a palm database (pdb) file you must put it back in notepad because to convert files to pdb their extensions must be txt or bmp.
