Functionality.
1- Client: for your clients.
2- Administrative: For cashing.
3- Main database computer.
You can combine type 1 and 2, and 1,2 and 3.
Now:
1-Select and main database computer, it mut be turned on all day.
2-If your are combing type 1 and 2, you may do cashing entering with your password when the session finish.
Database
Database must reside on one shared network folder accessed only by the operative system security.
