New to DataDrafter? Here are few things to keep in mind:

[GENERAL INFORMATION]

1) You must have JRE 1.4.2 or later and Java Web Start installed on your
machine in order for DataDrafter to run. You can get this software
   from http://java.sun.com.

2) To install DataDrafter extract and double click the dd_personal.jnlp
from the downloaded zip file or go to http://www.datadrafter.com,
click download and then click Java Web Start Install.

3) The first time you install DataDrafter it will create a working
directory on your local drive called c:\datadrafter and will copy
example files and a properties files to it. This folder only contains
the data files for the application not the application itself. The
application files will be stored in the Java Web Start cache directory.
Each time you start DataDrafter it will check for updates and install
them if any are found. The files in the working folder will not be
   changed.

4) To reinstall the example files you must delete or rename c:\datadrafter.
If you would like to keep or reuse any data files you have created then
   rename the directory.

5) To completely uninstall DataDrafter use the uninstall application feature
in Java Web Start and then manually delete c:\datadrafter.

6) There is no user guide yet but the quick start guide will walk you
   through
using the basic features of DataDrafter and give you a good idea of how it
all works. The quick start guide is on-line at
   http://www.datadrafter.com/quickstart.shtml.

 - In order for the installation and the DataDrafter program to work properly you must
first install a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and Java Web Start (JWS). Both are
are free and can be download from http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/

us using our feedback page located at http://www.datadrafter.com/feedback.shtml
 - DataDrafter is a pure java based application therefore it does not add entries
to your systems registry database or install unwanted dlls anywhere on your
   system.

First Time Installation Instructions

1) Unzip the contents of dd_personal.zip file to a temporary folder.
2) Execute the install.bat file for double click the dd_personal.jnlp file.
This will initiate the Java Web Sart application which downloads all the
required files for DataDrafter Personal Edition 1.0.
3) When the security dialog appears you must choose Yes or the application will not
   be able to run,
4) The DataDrafter Personal Edition 1.0 - Desktop Integration Box will appear next.
This is part of the Java Web Start application, It will allow you to add shortcuts
to your desktop and Start menu to launch DataDrafter from if you choose too.
If you choose not to do this then you will be able launch DataDrafter by starting
from the Java Web Start Application Manager, choosing DataDrafter Personal Edition.

5) Other than the program files themselves DataDrafter requires a set of application,
configuration and data files to operate. The Copying Support Files dialog will
appear while these file are copied to c:\datadrafter. There are also some example
files that demonstrate different features of DataDrafter that are copied too.
6) DataDrafter Personal Edition 1.0 is then launched as the last step of the process.

Instructions For Updating Previous Installations of DataDrafter

1) To upgrade the program files simply launch the application. If there are newer versions
of the software on our web site Java Web Start will automatically download and install them.
2) If c:\datadrafter already exists then no furth action is taken after the program files are
downloaded. The support files are not copied again. The directory and the files in it are not
   changed in any way.
3) However, if for some reason you do want to reinstall the support files too, simply rename
c:\datadrafter to something else such as c:\datadrafter.bck before launching the application.
If the install procedure detects that c:\datadrafter is not there then it will create it and
copy the support files. You are then free to move work files from the renamed directory to
   the new c:\datadrafter root directory.

Uninstalling DataDrafter

1) Just delete the folder where DataDrafter was installed to remove it. Also remove any program
   shortcuts you have created.

The Object Modeler know uses a single XML file to keep track of data instead of three seperate ASCII
delimited files (templates.txt, details.txt, attributes.txt). If DataDrafter 1.1 does not detect the
presence of the modeler.xml file then it will load the old files. After DataDrafter 1.1 is started
just click the save button on any of the tabs in the modeler to create the file. It will use the
XML file from then on. The old files will be left in place. You can remove them when are comfortable
doing so.
