NOTE: The number of objects (X) that dBeamer is able to beam at any given
time is a direct function of the amount of RAM available to dBeamer (Y)
such that X = Y/700. For example, if dBeamer has access to 1GB of RAM, it
would be able to BEAM up to 1.4 million objects (1 GB/700 = 1.4 million
objects). In order to BEAM a large number of objects, the use of 64bit
machines is a must. The minimum RAM requirement for dBeamer is 4 GB.
If the number of objects to be BEAMed exceeds 1 million, it is strongly
recommended to increase system RAM to 8 GB.

News:
-----

PAUSE and RESUME is now enabled. Note that the PAUSE and RESUME capability of
dBeamer(TM) represents a best effort to ensure that a BEAM operation does not abort
due to a network interruption or if the system or storage device where the source
objects reside becomes temporarily disconnected. A PAUSE state does not persist through
a system reboot at the target. This means that in cases where the target system fails
or is restarted, the affected operation cannot be resumed.

During the PAUSE state, a file system error is sent to the application, indicating that
the data to be accessed is not available. dBeamer(TM) will make a best effort to
return a meaningful error to the application. The application's behavior upon receiving
such an error notification is entirely a function of its own implementation.

IV. Known Issues and Workarounds
--------------------------------
dBeamer Installation
-- Before installing dBeamer on a host with a DPM agent installed, please
review the caution statement in the Installation (Cautions) section of
        the User Guide.

BEAM Operations

     -- Support up to 512 source-target pairs

-- At the dBeamer Control Center's "Help" tab, the "Send Debug Files" feature
is currently non-functional. The user is advised to use the "Support"
button at http://www.instavia.com to file a support request.

-- Content indexing and database cataloging on the BEAMing objects may result
in poor I/O performance and slow down the application using the BEAMing
        objects.

-- DOS 8.3 short file names are NOT supported for BEAM operations.

-- During a BEAM operation, applying a regular DELETE operation from Windows
Explorer to a target file or folder (i.e., moving the file or folder
to the Recycle Bin) is NOT allowed; an error message will be displayed if
this is attempted. If a target file or folder must be deleted during a BEAM
operation, there are four options that may be used:

           - From an Explorer window, select the file or folder to delete, then
press the SHIFT+DELETE keys simultaneously to DELETE the file or folder.
           - DELETE the target file or folder using the Windows command line.
           - Cancel the BEAM operation, then DELETE the target file or folder.
           - Wait for the BEAM operation to complete, then DELETE the target file or
             folder.

When all target Root Paths of an operation are deleted, the BEAM operation
        will terminate.

-- Even after a successful BEAM operation, some target Microsoft Office
application files that were modified during the BEAM operation may still
be displayed with a Windows broken file icon instead of a normal file icon.

-- dBeamer currently supports BEAM operations from NTFS and CIFS shares, and HTTP
only. BEAM operations from non-NTFS Sources, such as files on CDs, DVDs, VMware
shared folders (not CIFS shares), or FTP mount point, are NOT supported.

-- dBeamer currently does not support NTFS encryption, compression, and sparse
files. When BEAMing an NTFS compressed file, dBeamer will transfer the entire
file immediately when the file is opened. When a sparse file is BEAMed, the
target file will not remain a sparse file.

-- Alternate Data Stream from a source file will not be BEAMed to the target.

Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) support:
     -- CSV is supported only for Hyper-V R2 on Windows 2008 R2
-- 1 Gbps network connectivitiy is recommended
-- "Redirected access" for the CSV volume must be turned on before initiating
a BEAM operation to the volume

Virtual Machines

-- Attempting to BEAM a VMware Workstation encrypted client image during the
encryption process will freeze the VMware Workstation console.

-- BEAMing from a VMware shared folder (shares created using VMware and not the
shares created by the operating system of the virtual machine) is not
        supported.

Antivirus Software
-- The following antivirus software products have been successfully tested with
        dBeamer:

           - Symantec AntiVirus 10.1 for all supported platforms
           - TrendMicro OfficeScan 8.0 for Windows 2003 and 2008
           - TrendMicro OfficeScan 10.0 for Windows 7
           - McAFee VirusScan v8.7i for for all supported platforms
