II. dBeamer!DPM zip file extraction
-----------------------------------

dBeamer!DPM - this package contains a component to be installed on the DPM
server. It also contains a GUI recovery console to be installed on the DPM
client (recovering host).

In order for dBeamer!DPM to function, dBeamer must be installed on the DPM
client. The version of dBeamer used by dBeamer!DPM is unlicensed. In order to
use dBeamer independently of dBeamer!DPM, a separate dBeamer license is
required.

  ============================================================
  If you are installing the product on a Windows 32-bit system
  ============================================================

        - dBeamer-x64.msi (dBeamer installer for Windows 64-bit OS)
        - dBeamerDPM-x64.msi (dBeamer!DPM installer for Windows 64-bit OS)
        - dBeamer-QuickStart.pdf (QuickStart Guide for a jump start)
        - dBeamerDPM-ReadMe.txt (this file)

* Please refer to dBeamer-QuickStart.pdf to start the Installation and test
drive

News:
-----

PAUSE and RESUME is now enabled. Note that the PAUSE and RESUME capability of
dBeamer(TM) represents a best effort to ensure that a BEAM operation does not abort
due to a network interruption or if the system or storage device where the source
objects reside becomes temporarily disconnected. A PAUSE state does not persist through
a system reboot at the target. This means that in cases where the target system fails
or is restarted, the affected operation cannot be resumed.

During the PAUSE state, a file system error is sent to the application, indicating that
the data to be accessed is not available. dBeamer(TM) will make a best effort to
return a meaningful error to the application. The application's behavior upon receiving
such an error notificaiton is entirely a function of its own implementation.

* dBeamer(TM) now supports millions of objects

* DFS and Exchange DAG are supported in this release

NOTE: The number of objects (X) that the dBeamer!DPM Client is able to
recover at any given time is a direct function of the amount of RAM available
to dBeamer (Y) such that X = Y/700. For example, if the dBeamer!DPM Client
has access to 1GB of RAM, it will be able to BEAM up to 1.4 million objects
(1 GB/700 = 1.4 million objects). In order to BEAM a large number of objects,
the use of 64bit machines is a must. The minimum RAM requirement for the
dBeamer!DPM Client is 4 GB. If the number of objects to be BEAMed exceeds
1 million, it is strongly recommended to increase system RAM to 8 GB.

dBeamer will only function properly in conjunction with dBeamer!DPM client.

--------------------------------
IV. Known Issues and Workarounds
--------------------------------

* Support up to 512 root level objects (not total number of objects)

* For Hyper-V recovery, the IT administrator must import the recovered VM.

* Systems with a legacy filter driver installed will require rebooting

* Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) support
    - CSV is supported only for Hyper-V R2 on Windows 2008 R2
    - 1 Gbps network connectivitiy is recommended
    - "Redirected access" for the CSV volume must be turned on before initiating
      a BEAM operation to the volume

* On a 32bit machine, dBeamer(TM) supports a maximum of 20,000 objects for a BEAM
  operation.

* Content indexing and database cataloging on the BEAMing objects may result
in poor I/O performance and slow down the application using the BEAMing objects.
