EPCOT Network Nodes by Gedeon Maheux

“If we can dream it, then we can do it, yes we can!” I remember the first time my parents took me to EPCOT Center at Disney World, Florida. I had loved the Magic Kingdom with all of its rides and characters, but EPCOT was what I had been looking forward to all my young life. It was filled with visions of the future and what life might be like when I was an adult. I soaked up the various pavilion’s theme songs, rides and atmosphere. I remember making a “video phone call” from the base of Spaceship Earth. I remember wondering at the concept cars in Communicore East. EPCOT fueled my imagination and gave me memories that have lasted my entire lifetime.

Sadly, many of the original pavilions that I experienced are no longer there. The World of Motion was removed to make way for Test Track and Horizons eventually became the Wonders of Life. In creating these futuristic network volumes based on the various original EPCOT pavilions, I’ve tried to recapture some of the original theme park on my desktop. If you have memories of Disney like I do, then you will probably enjoy these icons. If you’ve never been to EPCOT, then at least will be some fairly neat HD icons.

This set was made possible with the help of a couple people, but most notably the webmaster at MickeyAvenue.com for the Prototype Community font used to create these icons. Also, a big thank you goes out to Michael Kovalchick for pointing me in the right direction in the first place.

UPDATE: After four and a half years I’ve finally updated the EPCOT Network Nodes set for Mac OS X Leopard and Windows Vista. This newly refreshed set not only contains large sizes, but an all new style of each of the pavilion logos as well.

Sadly, in the span of time it’s taken to update this collection, the EPCOT theme park has lost even more of the original attractions. Hopefully some part of the park will remain next time I visit.
