Exo is a Top Down Shooter - you're a soldier running around a city with your squad, shooting aliens. The aliens are normally small, weak and vulnerable, however, they fight their battles in huge, heavily armoured exoskeletons.

In vehicles, you only need to aim with the mouse and shoot with the Left Mouse Button.
In the menu, you click buttons with the Left Mouse Button.

The currently armed weapon is larger, and its ammo is displayed to the right (as a percentage and as a bar). Your other two weapons are displayed just below - the left one is selected with Q, the right with E.

Each weapon has 3 accuracy levels. The most accurate is when you are still and aiming, the least when you are moving and not aiming (running), and normal accuracy when not moving and not aiming (standing) or when moving and aiming (walking).

HEADS UP DISPLAY:

Your weapons are shown at the top left of the screen.

Objectives are shown on the bottom left of the screen, such as timers in defence missions.

Actions (such as pick up weapons, execute downeded Exos, drop heavy weapons) are shown on the bottom of the screen, below objectives.

The frame rate is displayed at the top right as a percentage.

The reticle changes to show bullet spread.

There are circular indicators on the screen that show you (large blue circle), your allies (smaller blue circle) and your enemies (red circle).

Your screen goes red as you lose health - when it's fully red, you're dead and the mission is aborted. Don't take any hits for a couple of seconds to get your health back, and don't forget to always use cover!

WEAPONS:

There are 8 primary, 4 secondary and 4 heavy.
Primary weapons are stronger than secondary weapons, but have limited ammo.
Secondary weapons are weaker than primary weapons, but have infinite ammo. Use them as backup weapons.
Heavy weapons are only in Tier 2 Mission 3 (Defence) in this demo. They are huge and powerful, but have severely limited ammo, slow your movement and stop you from performing actions.

Some primary/secondary weapons have a silenced variant - enemies attempt to dodge unsilenced bullets, but silenced rounds have reduced damage.
You can carry 2 primary weapons (starts as Assault Rifle and Shotgun) and 1 secondary (starts as Pistol), and may pickup new weapons (by swapping your currently armed weapon for the pickup with SPACE).

PistolSecondary Your starting secondary weapon and standard issue for soldiers. Has a silenced variant.
SMGSecondary The extremely high fire rate makes it useful for suppression fire and taking out tiny Exos. Has a silenced variant.
Assault RiflePrimary Standard issue for soldiers. Average overall stats. Has a silenced variant.
Battle RiflePrimary Burst fire weapon - extreme accuracy and fairly high damage. Has a silenced variant.
Sniper RiflePrimary Perfect accuracy (when aiming) and high damage, but offset by slow fire rate and ammo capacity. Has a silenced variant.
ShotgunPrimary Designed for short range with huge damage and massive buck shot.
Rapid-Fire ShotgunPrimary Weaker that the normal shotgun, but a higher firerate.
Gatling GunHeavy Like an SMG, but bigger and much stronger.
CannonHeavy Fires a single, high accuracy round that penetrates multiple enemies.
Heavy ShotgunHeavy Like the shotgun, but bigger and much stronger.
Rocket LauncherHeavy Fires an explosive rocket that can destroy groups of Exos. Detonates depending on the target distance.

ENEMIES:

There are 7 different types of enemies. In addition, some have different weapon setups:
Drone The most common target, armed with either a shotgun, rifle or assault rifle equivalent.
Drone Leader Have much stronger armour than drones, and they dual wield the same weapons that Drones use.
Drone Sniper Another variant of the Drone, with a slow-firing, highly accurate and highly damaging sniper rifle. Low armour.
Drone Scorcher Another variant of the Drone, armed with a flame thrower. Can kill you very quickly from close range.
Tiny Small, fast moving Exos with dual SMG equivalents. Weak, but they travel in groups and keep your health down while larger Exos do the real damage.
Bomber A variant of the Tiny Exo, except these have large explosives attached to them. They're mainly used for taking down vehicles.
Huge The only seen Exo variant that cannot move, but it's heavily armoured and has a huge shotgun-cannon. Deployed by Exos to defend choke points.

GAME MODES:

There are three game modes: Story Mode, Mission Mode and Survival Mode.

Story Mode is incomplete in this demo.

In Mission Mode, you fight the Exos in a number of different mission types, split into tiers of missions. You complete any 3 missions out of the 5 in each tier to advance (e.g. complete Mission 1, 2 and 4 in Tier 1 to unlock Tier 2). Only Tier 1 and Tier 2 are complete in this demo.

In Survival Mode, you fight waves and waves of Exos on foot, but without a team to support you. Every two waves, the enemy forces become stronger, and you get an Air Drop. An Air Drop will give you ammo, new weapons or special pickups (such as Anti-personnel Mines).
