What are File Snap Shots?

Snap shots keep a record of previous versions of a file.  A folder must be snap shot enabled before the files within the folder can have a snap shot taken by a user.  Once the folder has been snap shot enabled, permissions must be set per user per folder so that the user is able to take snap shots.

Requirements for Snap Shots

My SQL database version 4.1 (or later) is required to store the documents.  Installation of the database can be done from the Tools / Options dialog box. 

Note that the method that snap shot uses to store the documents on the server will actually take up more disk space than the document itself.  It is not the equivailent of version control software that takes only the changes done to a document.

Installation of the Files Together database tables *

*Note: the database itself must already exist.

• Click on Tools / Options

    

• Click on the Database tab in the top half of the screen.

• Type in the relevant information in to the database connection fields.

• Click on Test connection

If the connection succeeds, you will be presented with the an Install button. 

• Click on the Install button to create the relevant tables.
