In order to make the use of Fluition and SMIL easier, Fluition has a number of features built in to assist with the process of presentation creation.
Fluition offers access to the User Manual on-line at www.fluition.com as a PDF file, or as HTML pages as well as within Fluition under the Help menu. For the most updated version of the manual, please check on-line at www.fluition.com. The Fluition manual is designed to present Fluition help in an easy to understand manner and can be viewed within Fluition using a web browser locally.
Once you register your copy of Fluition you will be notified when Confluent Technologies has updated any software or related products and papers. To register fill out the registration card included in the Fluition software box or register on-line at www.fluition.com in the Support section.
Fluition comes with a QuickStart window on both platforms, Windows and Macintosh. The QuickStart Window will guide you through the basics of Fluition as well as offering you templates with an instruction window that will walk you through creating a SMIL presentation. The QuickStart Window also shows you a sample SMIL presentation and then opens up the project in Fluition to allow you to see how it was created. Confluent Technologies offers an on-line tutorial in the support section at www.fluition.com. The on-line tutorial offers an excellent in depth guide to using Fluition in addition to the quick lesson we present in the following section.
The Fluition Help menu offers a Right-Click Help feature for Windows. Choose Enable Right-Click Help under the Help menu. After enabling Right-Click Help, when you right-click on a Window in Fluition a message box will appear giving a description of that feature of Fluition. To disable the Right-Click Help feature, choose Disable Right-Click Help under the Help menu.
Fluition offers Balloon Help for the Macintosh edition. Choose Show Balloons under the Help menu to enable this function. Once enabled, when you place your cursor over different areas within Fluition a balloon will appear to give you information about that specific feature of Fluition. To turn Balloon help off choose Hide Balloons under the Help menu.
As with other software applications, pausing the cursor over an element of the Fluition Interface for Windows will display a Tool Tip rollover explaining what that item does.
Fluition will warn of situations that may affect the way a presentation will perform or if there are problems with an operation you are trying to execute.
