The Options Window contains options that affect the use of Fluition. The first and most important is the Player Location field. By clicking the browse button, you can locate your SMIL player program on your hard drive. Fluition will use the program selected here to preview the presentation being created. For Fluition for Windows, if you do not select a player, presentations will be previewed using the built-in Fluition Preview Window based on the RealPlayer ActiveX Control.

The Options Window also has display options, "Optimize Groups", "View Code After Save", "Add Multiple Files" and "Show Images". These options can be selected and deselected using the check boxes located beside each option. Fluition for Macintosh also has the option for using a different color for the Fluition user interface. Choose the color you prefer, the default color or the customized Fluition colors.
The Add Multiple Files option determines the type of file window that will open when clicking the Add button in the Clip Library to add media to the Regions in your presentation. When this option is not selected, a standard file window will open allowing you to select a single file for addition to the Clip Library. If this option is selected, then a Fluition MultiFile window will open for selecting one or multiple clips to add to the Clip Library. This feature is preferable when adding multiple clips to one Region (i.e. In the case of a number of slides).
The View Code After Save option, when selected, will cause the SMIL Code window to open after a presentation has been saved. You can also view the SMIL Code at any time, whether this option has been clicked on or off by choosing the Build SMIL Code option under from the Presentation menu.
The Optimize Groups option affects the display of groups when a presentation is opened. When this option is not selected, a new sequencing group will be created for each instance of a group contained within a presentation. When this option is selected, only one of each group will be created when a presentation is opened. Fluition optimizes groups by default. For complex presentations there may be instances where the optimizing groups option will be switched off to give more control over the sequencing of media playback.
The Show Images option determines whether Fluition will display images within the Presentation window. When this option is selected, if a clip within a Region is selected from the Clip Library, that clip will be displayed within the Layout window. In the case of static media (e.g. image files) the image will be displayed. In the case of media that has an internal timeline (e.g. video, animation, ET. Al.), an icon representing the clip type will be displayed. This option can also be toggled from the Tools Palette using the Show Images icon.
Because multiple clips can be contained within a Region Fluition will display the clip that you have chosen from the Clip Library.
The Snap Value slider option allows you to select a Snap to Grid value for drawing and moving Regions in the Presentation window. The slider is measured in pixels and the higher the value selected on the slider, the larger the distance is for movement in the Presentation window.
The External Applications fields allow you to enter the location of applications that can be used for editing files that are contained within the Clip Library. If you double click on a clip in the Clip Library, the application selected for that file type will launch and load the file in to your chosen application. The supported external applications are: an image editor for image files; an animation program for animation files; and a slide show application for RealPix files. These applications can be any application accessible by your computer.
The FTP application you enter in to the External Application field here will launch when you click the "Publish" button on the Tools Palette.
