folks Skincare
folkKJ v2 is able to load a skin. If you can't find any skin, a file with 'dat' extension
under the folder 'skins', you can use one of the
WinAmp skins.
Before folksKJ reads a WinAmp skin we need to do some preparations. There are three simple steps
to be followed:
- Unzip the WAL-file (WinAmp 'modern' skin)
- Run folksSC (Skincare) to prepare new XML-files
- Run encoder on the new XML-files

Before you do that you can check the net whether someone has submitted a same one already. Please check

for the latest.
Here are the details of the above steps.
- Create a directory (e.g. myskin).
- Open the WAL-file (WinAmp skin) with WinZip.
- Extract all files from the WAL-file into the directory myskin.
- Run folksSC and select the source file skin.xml by opening the directory myskin.
Parallelly, the contents of the file will be displayed on your right hand side if a skin.xml file is found.
- After clicking on [Create], all required information are extracted in a new directory of the skin name (under folksSC). A text file will pop up with some skin information.
- Close the text file and confirm the dialog box to run the Kyra Encoder.
- At the end, a new DAT-file is generated under the skins directory.
The new skin will be listed on next start of folksKJ and you can access the list by press [Ctrl]+[F12] on the folksKJ control board (when the player is stopped).
Function key [F12] allows you to toggle between skin and standard GUI.
Notes:
- folksSC only prepares the skin information to be read by Kyra encoder and it does not
change any of the graphics. No new skin is generated.
- folksSC might fail to read some WinAmp skins because it's still in very early stage.
- folksKJ v2.00s can only display rectangle skin.
- If a button doesn't react on a mouse click it could be that the button is not in use or it's disabled in that state.
