e901. Getting the File-Type Icon of a File

The icon displayed next to directories and filenames in a file chooser dialog can be retrieved and used in other applications.
    JFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser();

    // Create a File instance of the file
    File file = new File("filename.txt");

    // Get the icon
    Icon icon = chooser.getIcon(file);

    // Some sample code to display the icon in a window
    JLabel label = new JLabel(""+file);
    label.setIcon(icon);
    JFrame frame = new JFrame();
    frame.getContentPane().add(label, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    frame.pack();
    frame.setVisible(true);
