Release Notes for JG Appbar version 4.0

A few minor bug fixes.

JGAPPBAR USER directory moved from Program Files to the user's path to appease Vista.

New Features:

1) Support for Vista and Windows 7 (32 bit). (JGAppBar wil install and run under 64bit Windows, but it cannot run
   64bit applications.)

2) New HTML Help system

3) Ability to specify RunAndHide for IDList icons

4) Ability to understand icons/applications installed by the MSI installer

To drag items from the Start Menu to the appbar hold the Ctrl key down when dragging.

Other software that tries to manage your desktop icons may conflict with this software.
You should disable/remove it before installing JGAppBar.

Known Microsoft VISTA issues:
If you run at very high DPI settings, you will likely run into appearance issues with many applications.

The appbar may appear to "pause" at startup. This is a Vista issue due to "boxing". There is a registry fix
available from Microsoft. You can elect to not run the appbar at startup (by deleting the shortcut from the Startup
folder) and just launch it manually (run as Administrator).

If you get an error when launching an application from the appbar "The requested operation requires elevation" this can be
rectified by specifying Run as Administrator when launching the appbar. (In my experience Vista will automatically fix
this after several tries.) You also may be able to edit the appbar button to specify Explorer as the Program and the
desired program as a parameter.

5) Rewrote the start menu automation logic to cope with the ever changing start menu.

interference.

Other Changes:

1) Adapted the appbar to run on Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

2) Removed "hide desktop icons" feature since this is now better better done with Windows TweakUI tool.

3) Removed some features that didn't exist/work on XP (restart options - MSDOS mode, use desc/icon for taskbar)

Caveats:

1) I have not tested this program with Windows Millennium, Windows Vista nor Windows 7 (yet).

Known Problems:

None yet. Please let me know about any that you find. Thanks!
