Kitchen Timer Gadget

The Kitchen Timer gadget provides a simple way to set an alarm on your desktop. The alarm can be set to go off at any time from 1 second to 1 day.

To get going, you need to open the Settings screen. Here you can set the timer using the selection boxes for hours, minutes and seconds. That's all you need do if you're happy with the default alarm sound (old-fashioned alarm clock).

However, you can choose your own alarm sound. Click the Browse button and navigate to the sound you want to use. This can be a .wav file or any other sound playable by the Windows Media player. If the sound file is very short, you can choose to have it repeated several times. There is also the option to disable the sound altogether.

Once you have set the timer, the play button will change from grey to black. The timer will start as soon as you click the black play button. This will cause the pause and stop buttons to be displayed in black and for the play button to revert to greyed-out. Clicking the pause button will pause the timer with the option to continue by clicking the play button again. Clicking the stop button stops the timer altogether.

The alarm will sound as soon as the timer reaches 00:00:00 and a small alarm-clock image will appear. You can wait for the sound to finish playing or you can stop the alarm sound by clicking on the alarm-clock image.
