Correlation

This area of data analysis is "treacherous and murky".

The word correlation comes from the joining of it's parts,
co,
and relation.

The correlation coefficient only indicates the degree with which two events regularly

occur together,

such as blond hair and blue eyes,

or change of events such as,

as children get taller they get heavier.,

But there is no causation inferred with the correlation coefficient. Blond hair does not

cause blue eyes and tallness does not come from heavieness.

During the latter part of the nineteenth century Karl Pearson (Pearson's r) while working

with Sir Francis Galton determined that the relationship between two qualitatively different

objects can be expressed in quantitative terms.

This tool determines Pearson's r from two variables selected from a Microbase database.

The input must contain the first row/column as descriptions of the variables.
