First you need to put the "MBS Network Screenshot Server" application on the target computer. Launch it and it's ready. Second go to your watching computer and use the application "MBS Network Screenshot Client" to make a new connection to your target computer. For that you need to know the IP of the other computer. Press Connect to connect. Third if you have your connection working, the first image will be loaded automatically.
The server is an application running in the background. On a Mac you can choose a menu command in the Server's menu bar to create a copy of the Server application which will work as an extension. This means that the Mac OS X version doesn't show into the Dock. On Mac OS 9 you can drop the extension into the system folder to load it automatically on every startup.
The server creates on the first run a preferences file. This preferences file has an entry for the port used for the network connection. This port value should be in the range between 1024 to 65535. Default port is 56789. You may need to change the port if you have another application using this port.
For Windows there is a entry hideonwindows which you can set to "yes" to hide the application from showing into the task list of Windows 95/98/ME.
On the client you can specify the JPEG compression quality. This quality is from 1 (lowest) to 100 (highest). A lower quality creates smaller pictures so the transfer is faster. Also you can choose between Small and Big picture size. A small pictures is the big picture reduced to 50 percent in width and height so the transfer size is reduced to a quarter.
Inside the Connection Window you can click a button "Update Now" which will send an update request, but it can take several seconds till you see the picture in front of you. The picture will be displayed inside the window to match the window size.
If you want you can specify an automatically update interval in the top right of the window.
Using the menu bar you can save the received JPEG picture into a file or export the picture into any format.
1. Mac OS X 10.3.9

This application was made for local networks which don't need big security inside. We suggest to use a router or a firewall to the Internet, so nobody from outside can watch your screens.
