PassAid Requirements

PassAid is designed to simultaneously change account password in multiple Oracle databases and thus maintain the passwords "synchronized". PassAid runs under Microsoft Windows and connects to databases remotely using already installed Oracle client software. You must be able to connect to the databases using that client software. Hence the requirements:

• PassAid can be installed and used on computers running Microsoft operating system Windows 2000, Windows XP, or later;
• Oracle client software version 8.1or later must be installed on the computer (either "normal" or "instant" client installation);
• Oracle net service names for all databases in which you want to execute your statements and scripts must be configured, for example, in a local tnsnames.ora file;
• you must know account names (user IDs) and current passwords with which to connect to the databases; the accounts must have the 'connect' database privilege (granted through a role or directly) to allow connection and password change.
