Read this: For the plugin to look as intended, It is recommended you use as high a video resolution as possible, preferably in the 1400 x 1050 range, and maximize Maxthon. Although neither of these recommendations are required, they allow you to easily see all the functions the plugin offers. One note for lower resolution users; the Setup screen can freeze open if the sidebar is not wide enough to accomodate it. If it refuses to close, simply use your mouse to expand it (drag to the right), and the setup window can then be closed. You can then drag the margin back to your desired location. In most cases, this should not be necessary, However.

New Additions to V2:
1. Edit Blockfiles From Within Plugin
Now you can select a blockfile and edit it from within Proxomitron Sidebar+. The plugin makes available the full text of the selected blockfile for examination and editing. This is handy for cleaning up your lists, or for troubleshooting when you have problems accessing (or blocking) a site.
2. New Mouseover help in lower screen
The lower screen (The 'space' scene) now also shows short help nuggets when you mouseover major buttons and other controls. The regular help screen is also always available.
3. Clock on Main Page
A clock, that's it.
4. Neat-O pop-up response on mouseovers
Just a visual change, that makes it more apparent when a control is clicked/moused over.

The Proxomitron Sidebar+ Plugin
is designed to provide you easier access to the major functions of that great, late, free proxy app, Proxomitron. It provides an intuitive screen to add files to your Proxomitron blocklist files, or you can bypass the filters with one button click. It also gives you one button access to the current web page's source code (or bypassed code), the DBUG screen Proxomitron provides, and several other Proxo items.
In addition to the Proxomitron functions, the plugin also provides you with a three speed page scroller (using MyIE2's inbred functionality), a translation screen that allows you to instantly translate an entire web page or selected text via the Altavista Babelfish translators, and a 'Kill Gifs' button that removes all Gif files from the current page (in an excessively silly manner, I might add...).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This plugin uses the FileSystemObject functions within javascript to read/write data from/to these files only:
- Its' own Config Files
- The Plugin Script
- Proxomitron's Blocklist Files.
It does not interact with any other files on your system.
Microsoft's security controls, designed to inhibit external scripts from accessing, and potentially changing your system files, require that a popup window appears to let you know whenever a script (such as this plugin) tries to write or read any files on your local system. There is supposedly no efficient workaround to avoid these popups (nor should there be, we don't want unscrupulous writing to our drives, after all). Interesting enough, tho, since I installed the latet version of Maxthon, the warnings no longer pop up on my systems, although the functions still work. So there you go. I'm actually not sure if Maxthon is the reason for this; perhaps I am such a good scripter that... nah, it's probably Maxthon. If they do / don't appear for you, if you know why they do / don't appear, or if you know anything interesting, let me know (preferably about this subject but if its real interesting, let me know even if it's not.) Anyway if you do get a warning, and it worries you, just read below.
The warning on this popup can safely be ignored in the case of Proxomitron Sidebar+; you can just click OK whenever the popup appears. As the plugin only needs to write/read data occasionally, this annoyance shouldn't impact your browsing fun too drastically.

Setup
Click on Setup in the Blocklist screen to add the following:
Proxomitron Folder
Click on the link to enter the location of Proxomitron (typically c:\program files\proxomitron)
Config File
Click on the link to enter the config file you want to use in Proxomitron; This will change the config file in Proxo. (This can be problematic sometimes; see below for troubleshooting if you have problems)
Prefix URL
If you use a prefix URL, Click on the link to enter it here and make it known to the plugin. (You must also add the prefix to the Proxomitron config screen.)
NOTE:
If the sidebar is not set wide enough, the slide-out setup panel may freeze open. If this occurs, simply click on the right sidebar border and drag it a bit wider until it self-corrects.

Blocklists
Add to Blocklists
Adds the current URL to the Proxomitron blocklist file of your choice. The program lists all available blockfiles in the dropdown menu; select one and click the add button.
Bypass Filters
This mimics the click boxes on the main Proxomitron screen; click a button to have the current URL be bypassed by the stated Proxomitron Filters. You can 'piggy-back' URL commands, whithin Proxomitron's normal rules, and the plugin will correctly add them to your URL (for example, you can bypass both Web and Header Filters (IN), and it will tack both of these to the beginning of your URL, along with your URL 'security' prefix, if you have one. It will only list the URL security prefix once, no matter how many other URL command you tack on to the web address. (If this confuses you, read Proxomitron's help on this subject, it does a good job of explaining URL command and the need for a URL prefix.) Also, you should read in this help re setting up/synching setup information between Proxo and this plugin; if you dont set up things appropriately in both programs, you can create a 'Catch 22' where you can't setup the prefix URL cause' Proxo can't read URL commands without a prefix URL... etc. (Setup is pretty straightforward tho, don't let this scare you...)
Select Proxomitron Config File
Click on the Proxomitron icon to select/change the config file that the plug-in reads from. Assuming it is a properly formatted Proxo config file, the plug-in will pull the blocklists from it, then pop up a confirmation box. When you click OK, it will refresh the plugin to invoke that config file.
NEW: Edit Blockfiles From Within Plugin
The button that adds URL's to blocklists has now been split. The left button maintains that this same functionality; However, the new right button will now open for editing the blocklist file that you have selected in the dropdown menu located directly above the buttons. Once clicked, a new page will open, with the full text of the selected blockfile available for examination and editing. After making any changes, Press the 'Save' button to write the file to disk, or click the return button to leave the edit screen without saving any changes. This is handy for cleaning up our lists, or for troubleshooting when you have trouble accessing (or blocking) a site.
Important Note:
Before you try anything with blockfiles, you must set your Proxomitron Folder Location and the initial Proxomitron Config File you plan to use (the config file default to 'default.cfg'), as well as your URL prefix, if you are using one. This is accomplished in the pop-out setup screen available on the lower left of this screen- Just click on the word 'setup' that runs vertically down the left side. The program needs to know this info in order to function. This is set by clicking on the Setup slide out panel and clicking on the appropriate item (set folder first.)
You can also set your Prefix Url here. Note that you still must add the prefix to the proxomitron itself; this only tells the plugin to use the prefix if you want one.
This can be a real pain sometimes; if you have problems, keep in mind that for this to work, you must meet the criteria of TWO config files; e.g. both the config file being loaded and the one being unloaded must match URL prefixes, because a prefix command is used to accomplish this feat. So if they are not both the same, or both blank, the command will fail. (Moral: In Proxomitron, keep your URL prefix the same for all your config files; if you change one, change 'em all. And of course, make sure all your config files have 'Disable URL based commands unchecked in the Proxomitron config screen.
