Three View Layout
- categories / feeds
- a list view with the articles on current feed (LIST)
- a preview area for the description of the selected article. (PREVIEW)
The force refresh is available for a feed:
- “A refresh in background” option is available in Menu > Preferences; It’s used to start a periodic refresh of the feeds. The “Refresh timeout” setting is the interval between two consecutive runs.
- “Refresh feeds” (R) – starts a refresh for all the feeds in the application. It only runs one time.
- If one feed is selected in the TREE, Refresh button is available and it will update only the current selected feed.
View article:
- Default view is the description in the PREVIEW area
- “View in a new Tab” (T) – opens a new tab with the article url.
- “View in Browser” (B) – opens the default browser with the article url.
Read / Unread:
- A status with the articles that are read / unread is kept for each feed that’s in the application.
- When moving through the LIST of the articles for a feed, the status of the article changes from unread to read with a visual feedback and the number of unread items changes for the current feed.
- “Mark all feeds read” (A) option is available to change the status for all the feeds articles in the application.
- When one feed is selected in the TREE, “Mark as Read” option will change the status for the articles of the current feed.
Add / rename category
- “New category “button is available in the application
- Double clicking on a TREE category enables renaming.
Add new feed
- “Add feed” button opens an interface for typing in a feed url.
- If a category is selected, the feed is added into that category.
- Firefox can be used to add feeds to the Fresh app by using “Subscribe to feeds using .. Fresh app”. Everytime a feed url is clicked in browser, Fresh app starts and the “Add feed” interface is populated with the feed url.
Move to Trash
- Delete key deletes the selected feed in the TREE
- Drag & drop feed from Tree to Trash also works.
- Delete key on a category deletes the category and all the contained feeds
Import / Export OPML
- Import opml files from the "file" menu - 2 opml files with feeds in the install folder c:\programs files\feedreader01\.
- Export copies the opml to the Documents directory and opens the default browser with pointing to it.
Empty cache deletes all the articles
Double clicking a category - enables rename
