Crystal Reports for Eclipse Designer Guide

To apply conditional formatting using parameter fields

  1. Create a parameter field called SalesTarget that uses the Currency type.
  2. From your data source, select the field that contains the information about last year's sales figures, and add it to your report.
  3. Right-click the field and choose Conditional Formulas from the context menu.
  4. Select Font Color, and then click OK.
  5. On the Formulas tab, create the formula and use the parameter field in place of the fixed value you would normally use.
For example, your formula might look like this:
    If {customer.LAST_YEARS_SALES} > {?SalesTarget} Then
         Red
    Else
         Black

Now, when you refresh the data, the program will prompt you for the value that triggers the color flag (known as the threshold value). It then runs the report and flags all the customers that had sales last year above the threshold figure. You can change the figure each time you run the report and the program will flag a different set of values.
