Crystal Reports for Eclipse Designer Guide

About number formatting in the examples

In the descriptions of functions in this section, there are many examples of the values that the program returns when you use a particular function. Bear in mind that field formatting affects how formula results are displayed in your report; this is especially important when your function returns a numeric value. For example, if you use the Truncate function on the value 1.599, the formula returns 1, but what Crystal Reports displays depends on field formatting. If the formula field in your report is formatted to show two decimal places, the display in Crystal Reports is 1.00. Therefore, what you see in your report and the value shown in the function example can be different.
