ShowTx - Text Viewer, ver 2.00 (c) 2012, Horst Schaeffer

To test ShowTx and read more: drag&drop ShowTx.txt on ShowTx.exe.

+++ Unicode version:

ShowTX can read and write UTF-8 and UTF-16 (LE) text files, which allows having different languages (including East-Asian) in one text. Unicode text must beginn with a "BOM" (byte order mark, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark). Other text is assumed to be ANSI. You can change the encoding (for writing to file) through the menu:File/Encoding.

+++ To use ShowTx in batch files:

If you have a folder for "binaries" (or any other name) that is included in your PATH environment variable, you can run the programs in this folder anywhere by name, without specifying the full path.

To include a folder of your choice in the PATH variable, go to Windows' System Properties / Advanced / Environment Variables. Here you find your User Variables (upper half of the window):

Edit or create a variable named PATH, and specify the (full) path. Note that paths must be separated by semicolon, if there is more than one.

Windows will internally append the User PATH variable to the System PATH variable you see in the lower part of the window (no need to touch that one!).

+++ To add ShowTx to the "Send To" context menu:

- Copy ShowTx.exe (Ctrl+C or thru context menu).
- In Explorer's "address" field type shell:sendto [Enter].
- There: right click in empty space for context menu and select: insert shortcut.
- Rename new shortcut as you like
