Welcome to Softery Menu
Thank you for using our product. We hope that it will be useful and will help you to create dynamic and individual web sites. This manual will help you to install and setup Silver Menu for Dreamweaver quick and fast.
Requirements
Check that following programs are installed on your computer:

a) Macromedia Dreamweaver MX/MX 2004/8
http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/

b) Macromedia Extension Manager
http://www.macromedia.com/exchange/em_download/
Installing Softery Menu
After purchasing you get a link to download the .zip archive file with installation packages.

* If you download try version, please see information about limitations.

1) Softery UI installation
At first you have to install softery_menus_ui.mxp. double click on it, the Macromedia Extension Manager will run. Read License Agreement carefully, click Yes if you are agree. After it installation process will begin. If you installed our products before, especially Softery UI, Macromedia Extension Manager will ask you to reinstall it. You should agree. After finishing the installation process you will see “Softery Menus UI” in the list of installed extensions. You can always download the latest version of “Softery Menus UI” from http://www.softery.com/UI

2) Silver Menu Installation
When “Softery Menus UI” is installed you should install the menu component for Silver Menu. To do this double click on menu002full.mxp file or choose File => Install Extension in Macromedia Extension Manager and select menu002full.mxp file. Read License Agreement carefully, click “Yes” if you are agree and the installation will begin. After finishing you will see new “Silver Menu” component installed in the extension list of Macromedia Extension Manager. If you install the update for existing “Silver Menu” - Macromedia Extension Manager will inform you that you already have the old version of this component and will ask to rewrite it. You should agree.

That’s all, the Silver Menu is installed and you can use it.

* If you have different versions of Macromedia Dreamweaver installed on your computer (for example Dreamweaver 8 and Dreamweaver MX 2004) the extension will be installed automatically for the highest version. To install the extension for Dreamweaver MX 2004 in this case, you have to choose it in the drop-down list of Macromedia Extension Manager and check the boxes near Softery Menus UI and Silver Menu.
Using Softery Menu
1) Inserting Menu
Open Macromedia Dreamweaver, open document in which you want place menu. Choose: Insert => Media => Silver Menu as it’s shown on the picture:



After choosing Silver Menu you will see a dialog window where you have to define the folder and name to save .swf menu file. This file will be loaded during browsing your web page and this Flash file is responsible for Silver Menu representing.



That’s all! In the design view of your web page you will see new Flash element:

2) Menu configuration
If you do not install “Softery Menus UI” extension before, please install it. The extension is included into delivery package or you can always download the latest version from http://www.softery.com/UI

To setup menu settings – right-click on the object view and choose Setup Softery Menu:



Configuration window will open with two areas: one for navigation tree editing and other to set parameters.

How to edit navigation tree

Now you can fast and quick set your custom navigation tree using our Softery Menus UI component.



By default menu already has some elements in the tree. You can tune it according your needs. You can build two-level menu for your site.

To add new menu element press “Add” button, you will see that new “New page” element will appear:



You can edit following settings for every menu element:
Name – the name of a web page.
You can use following HTML tags in Name field:
‹B›Home‹/B› - Bold
‹I›Home‹/I› - Italic
‹U›Home‹/U› - Underline
‹BR› - new line (Use this tag for multiline menu names)

URL – link on a web page.
It can be relative: ‘home.html’ or full address: http://www.mysite.com/home.html
Target – the way to open a web page.
Possible variants are: _blank, _parent, _self, _top or you can type your own target.

After changing information about menu element you should press “Save” button to save all changes.

To delete menu element choose the element and press “Delete”. If the element has sub elements, all sub elements will be also deleted.

You can change the level and place of chosen element by clicking on arrows in the “Change level” section:



The arrows appear automatically for every menu element according to allowed actions.

How to edit other parameters

To see the list of other parameters open Menu Options or Advanced Options view:



The list of possible options:
1) Background Color – the background color of the menu.
Change this color using color picker. You can get any color from Dreamweaver window.
2) Background Image – link to JPG or SWF image file for background.
Please, take into account that Baseline (“Standard”) JPG standard is supported. Keep the field empty if you do not want to use background picture.
3) Main Button Height – the height of first level menu button.
4) Main Button Text Color – text color of first level menu button.
5) Main Font – font of first level menu button.
6) Main Font Size – font size of first level menu button.
7) Main Menu Highlight – highlight color of first level menu button when the mouse is over.
8) Menu Color – first level menu color.
9) Main Text Bold – the main button caption text bold on/off
10) Main Text Italic – the main button caption text italic on/off
11) Main Text Underline – the main button caption text underline on/off
Choose it and the menu will automatically detect all other colors for its elements except those that you can change in Options view.
1) Sub Button Height – sub menu buttons height.
2) Sub Button Text Color – sub menu buttons text color.
3) Sub Font - sub menu buttons font.
4) Sub Font Size - sub menu buttons font size.
5) Sub Menu Color – sub menu main color.
6) Sub Text Bold – the sub button caption text bold on/off
7) Sub Text Italic – the sub button caption text italic on/off
8) Sub Text Underline – the sub button caption text underline on/off
Choose it and the sub menu will automatically detect all other colors for its elements except those that you can change in Options view.
9) Sub Menu Highlight - highlight color of sub menu button when the mouse is over.
10) Sub Show Speed – sub menu appearance speed.
The smaller the value is the faster the sub menu will appear.
11) Autosize – automatically menu stretch.
If you change sizes in the Dreamweaver document using standard tools the menu will automatically change the size according the changes if this option is checked.
12) Transparent Background – check this option to hide background image or color of the menu.
This effect will be visible only in the browser; Dreamweaver design view does not support it.
