- Upgrading from a previous version of 6.x

You can simply install version 6.3 directly over
a previous version of 6.x.  All the proper files will update.
If you wish to remove the prior version first, understand that it
will remove your password and task lists.

After you install 6.3, you will need a new registration
number from us.  The software will run as if it is 
un-registered until you obtain a new registration number.

You will also need a new registration number for version 6.3.
To get your new registration number, simply email Posum at 
support@posum.com and send us the following information.

Postal address:
Registration number for previous version:

Once we verify your registration for your previous version, 
we will email you a new number for version 6.3.

- How to install Task Lock

First unpackage the ZIP file...

1) Using Windows Explorer, go to the directory where you downloaded the ZIP
file.
2) Double click the ZIP file to run the software to unpackage this file.  If
your software to unpackage ZIP files operates in a different fashion, then
follow the procedure for your particular ZIP file software.
3) Extract the files from the ZIP file to a directory your can remember.
The directory c:\temp is usually a good one.
4) After the files or extracted, then you are ready to install the software.

Now, run the installation setup...

1) Using Windows Explorer, change to the directory that you extracted the
files into.
2) Locate the file setup.exe.  Double click this file to run it.
3) A series of dialogs will appear to walk you through the installation
process for the software.
4) Once the installation is complete, you are ready to run the software.

- How to remove Task Lock

If for some reason you wish to remove TaskLock from your 
system, an uninstall program is included.  Run uninstall.exe,
type in your password and press remove.


- How to register Task Lock

First, visit our website at https://posum.com/taskordr.html and register 
your copy of TaskLock.  You can also select the 
"Help->Go online and get your registration number" menu item. This 
information is also in the helpfile, sgllock.hlp, in the Registration section.

To register your copy of Task Lock after you obtain your registration 
number from Posum, perform the following steps.

1) Run sglset.exe.  This will require that sgllock.exe is not running.
2) Select the "Help->Enter your registration number" menu item on the 
main dialog.
3) When the Registration dialog appears, type in your registration 
number.  To avoid re-typing it just cut and paste it from your email 
message you received from us.  Select OK.
4) Task Lock is now registered.


- How to set up Task Lock (An example)

1) Make sure sgllock.exe is not running.
2) Run Notepad.exe
3) run sglset.exe
4) From the main dialog, choose Select new task next to the New task field.
When the Task Browser dialog comes up, choose the entry that 
matches Notepad.
5) Choose OK on the Task Browser form.  When you return to the main 
form, edit the document name out of the task name you chose.  You 
should have "Notepad" left (no quotes of course).  Now choose 
Add new task.
6) Make sure the user and stop passwords are defined and that you 
can remember them and then choose OK on the main dialog.
7) Stop Notepad.exe and restart sgllock.exe.
8) Run Notepad.exe and Task Lock will protect it.

To setup more than one task (program) to protect, simply run the 
desired programs as you did Notepad in step 2 and then repeat steps 4 
and 5 for each program.


- How to start Task Lock when Windows starts

Task Lock will not automatically start up when Windows starts. When you 
are satisfied with the configuration of Task Lock, use the Options->Start 
Task Lock at Windows startup menu item to configure your system's registry 
to execute Task Lock (sgllock.exe) when Windows 95/98/ME or NT/2000/XP starts.
