The Cryptographer |
A handy tool for solving cryptograms... |
Step-by-Step Example |
The Cryptographer is designed to help solve individual words that are contained in cryptograms. In order to use The Cryptographer to full advantage, it is recommended that a few letters have already been discovered in the word. In this example we will decrypt the word “ZCZXVBNMZXSXDF” where the ‘C’ is already known to be ‘A’. i.e. _ A_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |
STEP ONE · Enter the encrypted word. · It must be lower-case.
STEP TWO · Enter encrypted letter and its decrypted state. · For this example we enter the encrypted letter ‘C’ because we know that it is an ‘A’. · You can continue to add as many as you want or clear the field. STEP THREE · Enter any omitted letters. · This is for if you’ve solved other letters in the cryptogram that you know are not contained in the word in question. · They must be entered in lower-case. · You can continue to add as many as you want or clear the field. · For this example we’ll just leave this field blank.
DECRYPT · You are now ready to decrypt your word · All possible results will be returned in the box · Sort through and pick the most logical one · If too many results are returned try gathering more information about the word.
